News - Kolbastı at One thousand 900 Metres
The British Folk Dance Team of the Ölüdeniz Municipality performed kolbastı among the clouds at the summit of Babadağ where paragliders take off. The Ölüdeniz Folk Dance Team of British residents between the ages of 60 and 70 displayed a significant performance by doing the kolbastı dance at the summit of Babadağ at an altitude of 1900 metres. To celebrate the opening of the Ölüdeniz Culture and Art Festival, the British team climbed up the summit of Babadağ and performed the kolbastı dance for the paragliders, municipal authorities and the newspaper reporters. The team expressed their happiness about dancing kolbastı at such an altitude, saying that it was a fantastic experience. The six members of the team, who had been living in Fethiye for many years, performed the kolbastı for about 10 minutes. The performance of the British team was highly cheered and applauded by the spectators. The team performed the recently popular kolbastı dance on the stony and hard ground of Babadağ with great grace and agility. Their outfits were most suitable for the performance of the kolbastı. The Mayor of Ölüdeniz, Keramettin Yılmaz, stated that the Sixth Ölüdeniz Culture and Art Festival took a start with the kolbastı performed at Babadağ, and commented as follows:
Our folk dance team formed by our British neighbours displayed the kolbastı dance at the summit of Babadağ at an altitude of 1900 metres. Our intention is to enhance the enjoyment of the holiday-makers visiting our region while watching this performance
